The science and practice of Covid-19 clinical care continues to evolve as new discoveries change our treatment options, management of complications and influence vaccination strategies. The Mittal Institute, with the support of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Lancet Citizens’ Commission on Reimagining India’s Health System, is organizing a series of panel discussions by leading scientists and frontline clinicians on the latest evidence-based updates for COVID-19 care. Our goal through these talks is to assist with the management of COVID-19 and improvement of health outcomes in South Asia.

This week we will focus on mental health training and outreach programs for rural communities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Anant Bhan will present the work done by Sangath in Bhopal. Sangath is committed to improving health across the life span by empowering existing community resources. They address the psychological and social needs of people through comprehensive interventions. Dr. Sangeeta Goswami will present MIND India's work in Guwahati with respect to capacity building using barefoot counselors. MIND, an acronym for Mental and Intellectual Needs Development, is the driving principle behind MIND India. The vision is to instill the concept of positive mental health and wellbeing in people and the mission is to enable them to choose change.
